Tinto de Verano

Andalusia's everyday summer wine — simpler than sangría, twice as refreshing.

Glass Tall glass or tumbler
Garnish Lemon slice

The Story

Tinto de verano — "summer red" — is what Andalusians actually drink when the heat arrives. Tradition credits Antonio Vargas's roadside venta in Córdoba in the early twentieth century, where red wine lengthened with fizzy lemonade — "un Vargas" — became the drink of the season.

Where sangría asks for fruit and patience, tinto de verano asks for nothing but a cold bottle and colder lemonade. Bestué's juicy Garnacha, grown in the foothills of the Pyrenees, is exactly the kind of honest red the serve was invented for.
